Dr Wong, Janet Yuen Ha 黃婉霞
Dr Janet Yuen-Ha Wong, RN, PhD, is an Associate Professor at the School of Nursing of the University of Hong Kong. She received her PhD at the University of Hong Kong. During her PhD study, she had been awarded Fulbright visiting scholarship (2010–2011) affiliated with University of Virginia in the United States. She joined the University of Hong Kong as a Clinical Instructor in 2007 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2017.
Her principal research area lies in different contributors to health inequalities and vulnerabilities, including intimate partner violence, women's health, and issues related to poverty, ethnic and sexual minority. She has been contributed to the examining those relationships by using large-scale surveys and developed great interest on enhancing their capacity to know-how, fostering problem-solving skills, and strengthening evidence-informed practice to meet their needs. She focuses on using information and communication technology for health promotion via empowerment on attaining their health literacy, with government funded projects. For examples, safe sex practice and sexual abuse prevention in female college students by using Chinese website Dating Café and interactive computer-based sex education programme, HPV vaccination promotion in secondary school students, and reduction of alcohol drinking in at-risk populations by using gamification and instant-messaging.
She is also appointed as Advisory Board Member of Hong Kong Single Parents Association and elected as the Asia Regional Coordinator for Sigma Theta Thau International Honor Society of Nursing.
