Dr Shih, Kendrick Co 施愷廸
Dr. Kendrick Co Shih graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 2009 with MBBS (HK) and Master in Research (Medicine) degrees. His postgraduate thesis, under the supervision of Professor CM Lo and Professor K Man, focused on the impact of small-for-size graft injury on tumor behaviour after liver transplantation. In 2012 Dr. Shih became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (Ophthalmology) and an associate fellow of the Hong Kong College of Ophthalmologists.
Dr. Shih joined the department of Ophthalmology in summer 2010 through the LKS Faculty of Medicine Early Career Scheme as a clinician scientist. As such he is a young investigator with a wide area of research interests. Through collaborations, Dr. Shih is currently working on novel neuroprotective strategies for glaucomatous optic neuropathy and developing high sensitivity optical sensors for use in artificial eyes. He is also involved in the development of intraocular pressure-monitoring contact lens devices. On the clinical front Dr. Shih is investigating the association between diabetic retinopathy and subclinical coronary artery disease. He is also involved in quality assurance for the high-volume cataract surgery performed at Grantham Hospital, Hong Kong.
Dr. Shih's clinical interests are in anterior segment disease, glaucomatous optic neuropathy and cataract and refractive surgery.
