Authors
Issue Date25-Nov-2025
PublisherRoutledge
Abstract

This final chapter provides a reflective and forward-looking perspective on the field of speech-language pathology (SLP) in the Asian context. It summarizes the key themes and insights presented in the previous chapters, discusses emerging trends and challenges, and offers recommendations for the advancement of SLP in the Asian context. Specifically, the chapter highlights the importance of preparing SLP students for clinical practice in diverse cultural contexts, particularly within the Asian setting. By incorporating cultural perspectives, values, and linguistic diversity into training programs, students can develop cultural competence and enhance their clinical reasoning skills. Emphasis is placed on ethical practice, professional conduct, and the need for culturally sensitive care when working with Asian clients with SLP needs. Additionally, efforts to promote diversity and inclusivity in research and peer review processes within the field of SLP are discussed, aiming to address inequities and broaden perspectives in academia.
