Dr Agnes Lai is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing, The University of Hong Kong. She obtained her Doctor of Philosophy degree from the School of Public Health and Doctor of Nursing degree from the School of Nursing at The University of Hong Kong (HKU). She completed her Master's degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the School of Public Health at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Dr Lai is a registered nurse and polysomnographic technologist both in Hong Kong and the United States.
Dr Lai’s research interests are two-fold: respiratory medicine and preventive medicine. She has broad experience in conducting randomised controlled trials in respiratory diseases, promoting positive airway treatment adherence, and performing a large-scale multicenter study on updating the lung function reference values for adults in Hong Kong. She used a capacity-building train-the-trainer approach to conduct large-scale community-based interventions and public health promotion. In collaboration with community partners, Dr Lai and her team conducted a series of large-scale community-based projects to enhance holistic health and well-being in the general public. Currently, she is working to the application of a lifestyle-integrated exercise to enhance holistic health and well-being. Her research contributions have been recognized with local and international awards and scholarships.
