Biography

林姵吟博士,中國現當代文學助理教授,2012年開始在香港大學中文學院執教,此前曾在英國劍橋大學,倫敦大學,和新加坡國立大學任教,也曾在倫敦大學亞非學院擔任博士後研究員。林博士著有多篇關於現當代文學(尤其是台灣文學)的中,英文論文,也翻譯過數篇短篇小說,近期代表作為Print, Profit and Perception: Ideas, Information and Knowledge in Chinese Societies, 1895-1959 (Brill, 2014)。她指導過的博碩士論文範圍寬廣,含中國現代抒情小說,金庸改編,台灣現代詩,馬華文學等,講授的本科課程包括:1)二十世紀中國文學,現代性與國族;2)華語系文學與電影;3)台灣文學專題:日治時期到90年代。目前的主要研究課題包括:台灣文學與殖民現代性之關係;華語系書寫中的歷史美學;和華語系電影。

Dr Lin Pei-yin joined the School of Chinese, HKU in 2012 as an assistant professor in modern and contemporary Chinese Literature. She was previously Lecturer in Taiwanese Studies in the Department of East Asian Studies, Cambridge, an assistant professor in the department of Chinese Studies of the National University of Singapore, and a part-time teacher and post-doctorate research fellow in modern Chinese literature at SOAS, University of London. She has published widely on modern Chinese literature, especially literature from Taiwan. Her latest publication is Print, Profit and Perception: Ideas, Information and Knowledge in Chinese Societies, 1895-1959 (Brill, 2014). Dr Lin has supervised PhD and MA students working on various topics such as modern Chinese lyric fiction, the adaptation of Jin Yong’s novels, contemporary poetry from Taiwan, and Malaysian Chinese writing. She teaches the undergraduate subjects CHIN2152 “Literature, Modernity, and Nation in Twentieth-century China,” CHIN2153 “Sinophone Literature and Film,” and CHIN2154 “Taiwan Literature from the Japanese Colonial Period to the 1990s”. Her current research interests include the relationship between Taiwan literature and colonial modernity, as well as modern and contemporary Chinese-language literature and cinema.
