| Abstract | This chapter presents an innovative approach that helps medical students develop their skills for researching and writing for the public. The chapter shares learning resources developed to support student learning for wiki writing and presents students’ perceptions of the course’s usefulness in their disciplinary learning and teachers’ reflections on teaching wiki writing. Participation in the wiki writing project allows medical students to enhance their ability to interpret medical literature and present scientific information in a concise and coherent manner to an audience with diverse levels of health literacy. Through this project, students can also contribute high-quality health-related information to a prominent online resource, developing a deeper understanding of the value and functions of Wikipedia, including how health-related knowledge is gathered, verified, and communicated. |
