Construction of an assessment checklist for PICC placement based on Delphi method

Abstract

<p>Objective To construct an assessment checklist for placement of peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) meeting our current medical situation, and to improve assessment process before PICC placement. Methods Key informant interviews were con-ducted to nineteen experienced nurses who were expert in PICC care, and related literatures were searched and reviewed, to create a draft of assessment checklist for PICC placement. Then fifteen PICC nurse specialists were consulted by using the Delphi method. Results The authority coefficient of experts was 0.94; all experts considered that the assessment checklist was appropriate for clinical use and they proposed 23 suggestions for revision. According to their advices, the assessment checklist for PICC placement was developed. Conclusion The well-designed assessment checklist for PICC placement can effectively record assessment results which helps to formulate nursing plans and achieve information share.</p>

目的構建符合我國醫療現狀的PICC置管術前評估表,完善PICC置管前評估流程。方法通過前期對19位PICC專業護士進行的關鍵知情人訪談并結合文獻查證,形成PICC置管術前評估表（草案）,采用德爾菲法對15位PICC護理專家進行咨詢并修改定稿。結果專家權威程度為0.94;對PICC置管術前評估表均給予"合適"評價,并提出修改意見23條,根據專家提出的修改意見構建PICC置管術前評估表。結論設計完整的PICC置管術前評估表能夠有效記錄評估結果,據此做出護理計劃并實現評估結果的信息共享。
