Title | A BIM-based Component Circular Passport |

Issue Date | 30-Nov-2024 |
Abstract | The construction sector, a major contributor to global environmental impacts, necessitates the adoption of circular economy to mitigate its negative effects. In response, researchers are delving into material passports to facilitate circular decisions. While numerous passports have been previously suggested, the majority have concentrated on recycling and ignoring the component’s structural complexity. To solve the problem, this research introduces a novel BIM-based component passport considering six refined circular options. The passport includes the basic circular-related data and recommends circular options. It considers the component’s health condition, ease of disassembly, and ease of assembly to assess the technical feasibility of each option. Meanwhile, it considers the disassembly damage for the post-disassembly option. The practicality is demonstrated through a case study involving a steel truss. This research facilitates the recommendation of circular strategies. |
