AbstractThis presentation brings out the concept of artificial intelligence (AI), its influence on the healthcare professional workforce and how we can prepare our next generation to face the challenges of the new era. Industry 4.0 is the forth industrial revolution that is a prescribed and predicted paradigm shift through robotics like exploring human-machine interaction. It clearly points out the adoption of the next big wave of technology, AI which describes the ability of machines to imitate human mental prowess and this intelligence applies to both machines and software systems. AI has a definite impact on the healthcare professional workforce and leads to a new golden age of work. All repetitive tasks will be performed by intelligent machines or devices, whereas autonomy, creativity and empathy will become the core competencies required for any job. Robot or AI will be part of the inter-professional team and there will be a stream of new business opportunities empowering a culture of creativeness and innovation. Hence, it is crucial to equip our next generation with the abilities that will not be replaced by AI; as well as prepare them to face the challenges brought by the new era.
