AbstractIn this presentation Dr Gary Harfitt will draw on three decades of teaching and research experience at secondary and tertiary level in Hong Kong to illustrate his philosophy about what constitutes teaching excellence in our complicated world and why it is something that all universities must strive for. He will address several key questions, namely how universities and teachers can provide students with the optimal learning experience and how excellence in teaching can and should drive quality research. He will also highlight how universities can engage with the wider community to better promote good practices in teaching and learning.
