Abstract | Following the Cancer Prevention Recommendations throughout the lifecourse is crucial. A growing body of research shows the body fatness tends to track into adult life with the majority of obese children becoming obese adults increasing their cancer risk. Increased physical activity and a balanced dietary pattern can help children to control their weight. Additionally, breastfeeding seems to reduce the risk of overweight and obesity in childhood and adult life acting as a protective factor against cancer. This session will focus on early life factors, starting from the beginning of life even from preconception, in relation to cancer. Evidence regarding the factors that contribute to greater adult attained height, greater birth weight and greater growth in general will be discussed.
