AbstractNowadays, China has the most overseas students in the world. Along with the booming development of the Chinese economy and the continuing globalization of the world, the number of Chinese overseas students is growing and the trend of studying abroad is gaining more popularity in China. Meanwhile, an increasing number of Chinese overseas returnees are also attracting people’s attention, and causing heated discussions about how to make good use of their overseas educational experiences. Also, the question is raised “where is the best place for Chinese overseas students’ to gain further development?” This case study will interview 9 participants who previously studied abroad, now having progressed to his/her ideal work situation and life status with the help of their overseas study experiences. Through a series of interviews with these representative Chinese overseas students, this study intends to understand their various reasons for studying abroad, study the impact of overseas educational experiences to their career and life, and describe their choices and the correspondent environment for their further development accordingly. As a result, this comparative case study will provide some suggestions and implications to the up-coming Chinese overseas students for their career and life development.
