Abstract | The terrible fear of public speaking negatively affects the academic performance among university students. Since effective communication skills are crucial for career success, many people now see TED talks as the new golden standard of public speaking.
Traditional public speaking courses are not effective in reducing the fear of public speaking. There could be more effective ways to improve public speaking. This research aimed to find out whether watching TED talks would be a more effective way to improve the public speaking skills of university students.
Semi-structured interviews were conducted through Skype interviews with public speaking experts and educators. The experts and educators listed out the benefits of watching TED talks in university public speaking classrooms. They suggested solutions to implement TED talks in class. The research proves that watching TED talks can help university students improve public speaking skills effectively. |
