AbstractThis paper proposes a new family of perfect reconstruction (PR) filter banks called quadrature modulated filter banks (QMFB) by imposing structural constraints in the polyphase matrix. The single stage orthonormal QMFB is a complete modulated version of the two channel conjugate quadrature filters (CQF) because it is identical to the CQF when M=2. More general cascade linear phase orthogonal and nonorthogonal PR systems are also derived. In particular, we are able to obtain more general orthogonal and nonorthogonal versions of the Lapped Orthogonal Transform (LOT).
