AbstractAny interactive computer-aided design technique for multivariable feedback systems is critically dependent on the deployment of an appropriate set of indicators with which to assess stability, performance and robustness. Appropriate generalizations of the classical feedback concepts of gain and phase are developed for this purpose. The way in which these can be used for analysis and design purposes is briefly outlined.
