AbstractA ferromagnetic thin film characterization method and the measured microwave permeability of patterned permalloy films were discussed. It was found that the method incorporated ferromagnetic materials with transmission lines. It was observed that the frequency-dependent effective permeability was obtained from the incremental R and L caused by the ferromagnetic material. Analysis shows that above ∼22 GHz, mode conversion occurred in the test structures.
