AbstractSignificant modification of the seismic ground shaking may be developed in sites pertaining to soil resonance behaviour. Generic theoretical formulae have been developed to estimate the amplification for soil sites, and directly address potential soil resonance behaviour. The development of these formulae has taken into account the effects of soil damping, stiffness degradation, impedance contrast at soil-bedrock interface and soil plasticity. The microtremor array method with the spatial auto-correlation (SPAC) processing technique has been recommended for obtaining the shear wave velocity (SWV) model of the site.
