Professor He, Qiong 賀琼
Dr Qiong He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urban Planning and Design at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). Prior to joining HKU in September 2025, she held a permanent lectureship in the School of Geography and Sustainable Development at the University of St Andrews (2024-2025) and a Postdoctoral Fellowship at HKU. She earned her PhD in Urban Geography from the University of Amsterdam (UvA) in 2022.
Dr He’s research focuses on inequalities, mobilities, and urban (re)development, with the aim of revealing socio-spatial-environmental inequalities and facilitating more just, sustainable, and smart urban transformation. She uses both quantitative and qualitative methods with empirical expertise spanning China, the UK, and the Netherlands. Her work has been supported by various grants and published in leading international journals, including Annals of the American Association of Geographers, Environment and Planning A, Urban Geography, Habitat International, Housing Studies, and Housing, Theory and Society.
