Short Biography:

Maxstein M. Abuzaid is currently a teaching clinical practitioner, restorative dental sciences department at Prince Philip dental hospital,  faculty of dentistry,  the University of Hong Kong. He is the founder of dental scenarios group initiative and an active speaker in the field of minimally invasive restorative and aesthetic dentistry.

Biography

Maxstein M. Abuzaid is currently a Teaching Clinical Practitioner, restorative dental sciences department at prince Philip dental hospital,  faculty of dentistry,  the University of Hong Kong. Previously, He worked as program coordinator of HKU Massive Open Online Course in aesthetic dentistry. After recieving his excellence degree with high honors in dental surgery, He has actively instructed students at Conservative Dentistry Department at different universities. In 2020, he has established the Dental Scenarios international initiative, which later published its clinical magazine for young dental practitioners. He is an active speaker in various local and international dental events, sharing his clinical passion and experience in restorative and minimal invasive aesthetic dentistry.​ Dr. M. Abuzaid is a multitalented dental practitioner providing high quality dental work with a unique edge and in a brilliant way. He is always keen on delivering the younger generation with all the tips ‘& tricks to fill them with passion and inspire more brilliant work.

DescriptionTitle
Portfolio-based learning and clinical assessment (PBLCA) offers a comprehensive evaluation method that encompasses students' clinical skills, knowledge, and professional development. PBLCA encourages self-reflection, critical thinking, and continuous improvement, fostering a lifelong learning mindset for professional growth. Furthermore, it enables personalized feed-back and guidance from faculty, promoting transparency and accountability in the assessment process. PBLCA contributes to the standardization and consistency of dental education, providing a clear framework for evaluating student competencies across various institutions and clinical settings. The aim of this workshop is to foster collaboration among academic institutions in integrating a standardized PBLCA into dental curricula, thereby elevating the calibre of dental education. Challenges such as resistance to change, time and resource constraints, training and faculty development will be discussed.
