Dr. Marvin Chung received his undergraduate medical degree from University of Hong Kong in 2014. He joined the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of Queen Mary Hospital in 2015 after his internship and completed his orthopaedic specialty training in 2021. He obtained his fellowship from Hong Kong College of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Royal College of Surgeons of England, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, and Hong Kong Academy of Medicine. He subsequently joined the University of Hong Kong in 2022 as clinical assistant professor, and obtained his Master of Surgery from University of Edinburgh in 2023.
Dr. Chung is currently serving as a specialist hand surgeon at Queen Mary Hospital, Duchess of Kent Children's Hospital and Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong. He has received training in world-renowned centres including Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston, MA, USA) and Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand & Microsurgery (Louisville, KY, USA), and has been invited for talks on different upper limb pathologies and nerve injury. He has organized various workshops on hand surgery for local and regional orthopaedic surgeons as course director and faculty.
Apart from clinical duties, Dr. Chung is also heavily involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, and was elected as a member in Academy of Medical Educators UK and Faculty of Surgical Trainers of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He serves as academic advisor to medical students in pre-clinical and clinical years, with track record of supervising medical and postgraduate students in orthopaedic research. He is also currently the Intern Coordinator of the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of Queen Mary Hospital.
Dr. Chung is an advocate of patient education and empowerment. He currently serves as committee member in Global Nerve Foundation to promote awareness in peripheral nerve pathology. He is also a committee member in the Hong Kong College of Orthopaedic Surgeons Public Information Committee where he endeavours in promoting health information in hand and peripheral nerve diseases to the general public.
