Dr Hui is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychiatry, the University of Hong Kong (HKU). She awarded her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Jan 2009 and has been an active researcher in the Psychosis Studies and Intervention programme at the HKU with specific interests in relapse prevention, medication adherence, cognitive dysfunction, early intervention and long-term outcome of early psychosis. The core of her interest is the uncovering of relapse markers in early psychosis using both traditional and innovative neurocognitive paradigms, functional imaging and PET imaging techniques. Understanding of these abnormalities in brain mechanisms and the dopamine dysregulation can provide critical information to understand the disease and its treatment. Pursuing a research career in the field of psychotic disorders, she published over 100 scientific peer-reviewed journal articles, such as British Medical Journal, JAMA Psychiatry, Lancet Psychiatry, Psychological Medicine and Schizophrenia Research. Not only awarded the Young Scientist Award twice at the International Schizophrenia Research conference in 2006 and 2008, she also attained the Doris Zimmern HKU-Cambridge Hughes Hall Fellowship in 2012 and worked as a research fellow at the University of Cambridge. During her leisure time, she participates in promoting local awareness of psychosis by serving as a secretary in the Hong Kong Early Psychosis Foundation (EPISO) since 2007.
