Biography

Dr. Tas Yong Koh is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Real Estate and Construction at the University of Hong Kong. His research interests include the analysis of the impact of relationship and social capital in construction project settings, the dynamics and operational capabilities of project teams, and organizational culture in construction firms. In addition to these research streams, Dr. Koh is currently growing his research platform to include construction project safety in the area of high-reliability organizing in construction project teams. Tas received his PhD. from the Department of Real Estate and Construction, HKU, MSc(Building) from the National University of Singapore (NUS), Bachelor of Building Construction Management from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), a Diploma in Building from the Singapore Polytechnic, and had completed both stages of higher education teaching course leading to the Certificate of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education awarded by the HKU. Prior to academic career, he had worked in construction industry in Singapore. Tas had worked through various positions ranging from supervisor to Project Manager and Quality Systems Manager. He is experienced in managing residential and industrial projects. Tas is also experienced in the quality, environmental, and safety management of the construction project. From 2003, he has been active in construction management research, first in Singapore, and then in Hong Kong. His recent research activities in Hong Kong include a consultancy project with government-link organization on construction site supervision issue, and a few projects with private sector on construction site safety.
