Professor Weisheng Lu 呂偉生
Wilson Lu is Professor in the Department of Real Estate and Construction, Faculty of Architecture, the University of Hong Kong (HKU). He holds a BSc of Computer Science and an MSc of Construction Economics and Management. He was awarded his PhD by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HK PolyU). He has worked as a research fellow at the University of Reading, UK, from 2006 to 2008. His research interests focus on Construction Management with two directions:
- Construction informatics: Building Information Modelling (BIM), smart construction, and big data, and blockchain; and
- Sustainable construction: construction waste Management, economics, and public policies.
Prof. Wilson Lu (webpage: https://fac.arch.hku.hk/wilson/) is the leader of research grants worth HK$40+ million from various prestigious funding regimes including Hong Kong Research Grant Council (RGC), Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC), The Government Policy Innovation and Co-Ordination Office (PICO), Environment and Conservation Fund (ECF), and National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC).
Prof. Wilson Lu is the author of more than 160 books, book chapters, and journal papers. He has a Google Citation > 8000 and H-index > 50 (Google citation page: https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=-5oPDYsAAAAJ). He has been ranked as one of the Top 1% Scholar by Clarivate Analytics since 2017 (http://hub.hku.hk/local/top1pc/top1pc.jsp). He was the receiver of HKU Outstanding Young Researcher Award 2014-15 (http://www.rss.hku.hk/honours-awards/internal-awards/oyra-winners), HKU Faculty Knowledge Exchange (KE) award 2018-19, and HKU Faculty Research Output Prize (ROP) award 2018-19.
Prof. Lu is the Director of iLab@hku (webpage: https://ilab.hku.hk/), which is an urban big data hub to facilitate multi-dimensional and multi-disciplinary urban big data collection, storage, analysis, and presentation to inform decision-making in urban development. Prof. Lu has been the Associate Dean (Research) of Faculty of Architecture (FoA) since March 2016. He is pledged to serve colleagues and assist the Dean of FoA with Scholarship (e.g., grant applications), Knowledge Exchange (KE), and other ad hoc businesses (e.g., Research Assessment Exercise 2020).
