Biography

Professor Lawrence Lai is a town planner with degrees in economics, planning and law. He has developed an internationally recognized profile in the Coasian analysis and neo-institutional economic & planning research. Professor Lai’s research interest also covers the conservation of local military heritage. He and his research team has spent over a decade to identify and locate the military constructions and war-time relics situated in various locations with great historical and cultural values.

Professor Lai is a Fellow Member of The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS), The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), and The Hong Kong Institute of Facility Management (HKIFM), as well as Member of The Hong Kong Institute of Planners (HKIP) and The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT). He served on various government committees and panels including the Board of Review (IRO), Appeal Board (TPO), Building Appeal Tribunal and Transport Tribunal.
