Objectives
1 To identify equity factors at the student, school and family levels that contribute to the achievements of Hong Kong students at Grades 4 and 8 respectively in TIMSS 2015. 2 To identify the similarities and differences, as well the relations, between the factors in Grade 4 and Grade 8. 3 To compare the equity factors identified in TIMSS 2015 with those identified in TIMSS 2011. 4 Based on 1, 2 and 3 above, to paint a comprehensive picture of the status of education equity in Hong Kong, and to explore the implications of the findings of the study for curriculum policies and classroom practices in order to achieve better equity in Hong Kong, and for future analyses of large-scale assessment data more generally.
