Objectives
1) To examine the role of Hepatitis B virus (HBV) oncoprotein, truncated HBx (HBx-ΔC) in the regulation of CSC-like properties in CD133+ HCC via modulating distinct differentiation and growth signaling pathways. 2) To characterize the functional roles of deregulated genes and signaling pathways, with particular relevance to chromatin modification enzymes and redox regulation, in the maintenance, progression and differentiation of CD133+ liver CSCs. 3) To compare the differential transcriptomic and epigenomic profile between CD133+ cells isolated from fetal liver, non-tumor liver and HCC patient organoid culture lines.
