Dr Chen, Yong Hua 陳永華
Dr. Y.H. Chen joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering, The University of Hong Kong in 1993 as a lecturer. After obtaining a BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Southwest Jiaotong University, he furthered his education in UK and obtained his Ph.D. in 1991 from the University of Liverpool. Before joining the department, Dr. Chen had worked in Motorola Electronics Pte, Ltd (Singapore), Asia Matsushita Electronics Pte, Ltd (Singapore) and Swire Technologies Pte, Ltd. (Hong Kong) where he had accumulated enormous experience in automation, robotics, engineering design and quality management. Dr. Chen has filed one patent, co-authored a book and published over 100 referred papers in international journals and conferences in the areas of Machine Vision, Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing. His current research interests include engineering design, rapid prototyping and robotic machining, haptic modeling and computer aided medical surgeries. Dr. Chen is a Chartered Engineer and a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineer. Dr. Chen is also an active IEEE member who has chaired 4 IEEE international conferences.
