AbstractAfter analyzing the traditional equation on the thermally stimulated current (TSC) of dipoles with a single activation energy, especially on the physical meaning of the transcendental function in the TSC equation, a new kind of thermally stimulated current theory with an arbitrary dipoles activation energy density distribution was deduced. With the expression obtained in this paper, it is easy to get the numbers and activation energy density distribution of the dipoles which attribute to the currents.
