AbstractThe problem of the analyses of Space-Time Block Coding (STBC) in impulsive, non-Gaussian noise environments is considered. A model of an additive mixture of Gaussian and non-Gaussian impulsive noise is adopted, and the asymptotical solution of the closed-form expression for the average symbol error rate (SER) of orthogonal space-time block coding over Rayleigh flat fading channel is derived by means of the Moment Generating Function (MGF) with the approximate equivalent Multiple-Input Single-Output (MISO) model of mixture noise. Also, the performance evaluation of STBC is performed in terms of the impulsive noise occurring probability and the power ratio of the impulsive noise to the Gaussian noise. It is shown that mixture noise degrades the system performance significantly even at high SNR. Monte Caro simulation results corroborate the effectiveness of analyses.
