AbstractIn China, the spatial effect of asymmetric information is effectively obvious, since most of the information sources are centralized on a few administrative and governmental bodies. The objective of this paper is to testify this postulation by using China as a study case. Based on the investigation on the locational factors as considered by the multi-national corporation, and the empirical investigation focusing on the regional distribution of corporate headquarters, this paper focuses on assessing the spatial effects of asymmetric information in foreign corporate headquarter location. The finding of this paper suggests that local information flow and asymmetric information are the key determinant for services and financial centre development; and more importantly, geography has even mattered more in this Internet and globalization age.
