Abstract | 108 pairs of adult Chinese femora were submitted to CT osteometric study. Over 30 parameters were studied with particular emphasis on endosteal variations in shape and sizes. The male femora were bigger in several aspects: diameter of femoral head (p < 0.001), femoral head offset (p < 0.001), coronal and sagittal inner diameters at the widest part of the metaphysis (p < 0.001). Compared with another study on plain radiographic osteometry of proximal femur in Caucasians, several parameters showed significant differences. The femoral head offset was significantly shorter (p < 0.01), the coronal and sagittal inner diameters at the isthmus were significantly smaller (p < 0.01), the femoral anteversion angle was bigger and the femur appeared to be more bowed in the Chinese femora. |
