AbstractTransient or permanent malfunction of implantable device may result from electromagnetic interference during delivery of radiofrequency energy for treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. Therefore, there is a clinical need for an alternative energy source for cardiac arrhythmia ablation in patients with implantable device. This report presents a case of the absence of electromagnetic interference to an implantable cardioverter defibrillator during atrioventricular nodal ablation for atrial fibrillation to avoid inappropriate shock. ©2006, The Authors.
