AbstractAs the unattainment of ambient dust is frequently reported in recent years in Hong Kong, an instantaneous dust monitor was adopted in the study to take the measurement of traffic dust at urban roadside to correlate the major factors affecting traffic dust emissions and concentrations. The emission models of reentrainment dust from traffic were gained both for PM10 and inhalable dust, which is a little lower than US EPA models given the same dust loading on road. It also indicated that the reentrainment paniculate emission is the main part of total road traffic dust. Spatial distribution of roadside dust revealed that the dust concentration at urban roadside may achieve a rather high concentration since the diffusion situation is generally very poor.
