Synthesis and luminescence behaviour of mixed-metal rhenium(I)-copper(I) and -silver(I) alkynyl complexes

Abstract

A series of luminescent mixed-metal acetylide complexes, [Cu 3(μ-LL) 3{μ 3-η 1-C≡ CC 6H 2R 2C≡C-p-Re(NN)(CO) 3} 2] + (LL=dppm, nPrPNP; NN = bpy, tBu 2bpy; R = H, Me) and [M 3(μ-LL) 3{μ- 3-η 1-C≡CC≡ C-Re(NN)(CO) 3} 2] + (M = Cu, Ag; LL = dppm, dppa; NN = bpy, Me 2bpy, tBu 2bpy) have been synthesized and characterized. All of them display rich photoluminescence and their low-energy emission are assigned as derived from states of 3MLCT [dτ(Re)→τ*(NN)] character. The X-ray crystal structures of [Cu 3(μ-dppm) 3{μ 3-η 1C≡CC≡C-Re(Me 2bpy)(CO) 3} 2]PF 6 and [Ag 3(μ-dppm) 3{μ 3-η 1-C≡CC≡ C-Re(bpy)(CO) 3} 2]PF 6 have been determined. © 2003 Elsevier B.V.
