AbstractThe final restoration of a damaged tooth must take into account the various factors that may influence the long-term outcome of this treatment. For example, teeth undergoing root canal treatment are likely to have had extensive damage caused by caries or pre-existing restorations. Indeed, the endodontic surgery itself may further weaken the tooth structure; therefore, it may be necessary to use a post in the final restoration. This article describes some of the guidelines for the proper restoration of endodontically treated teeth.
