AbstractA plasma mirror is shown to enhance the intensity contrast of 8fs multiterawatt light pulses by 2.5 orders of magnitude, while keeping the pulse duration unchanged. High reflectivity and improved near-field beam quality are demonstrated. © 2010 Optical Society of America.
