Conference Paper:
Digital Texts of Ancient Chinese Classics: Response and Heritage in the Digital Age |
|---|---|
| Authors | |
| Issue Date | 14-Jul-2025 |
| Abstract | This study reviews the evolution of an open-source online reading platform for Chinese classics and texts, while using the [SixArts Library (六藝文庫) ] (SixArts.info) as a case study, shares the practical work and reflections undertaken during the COVID-19 pandemic to satisfy at-home reading needs for traditional literary classics. The SixArts Library aims to provide an open platform that is both user-friendly and of tangible scholarly value, distinguished by its adoption of a vertical, right-to-left layout akin to that of ancient Chinese codices and publishing, thereby enriching users’ immersive reading experience. This presentation will also examine how an open-source approach can support the sustainable development of digital collections of ancient Chinese literature, serving the next generation of researchers in their online engagement and in building a global scholarly community around these resources. |
