| dc.description.abstract |
This essay is guided by two key questions: first, is there a geographical theory of imperialism? And second, what can geographers contribute to the interdisciplinary study of empire and its unmaking? To answer these
questions, I consider how political geographical work on empire has historically shored up a series of oppositions (between geopolitics and geoeconomics, the foreign and the domestic, globalization and race war,
etc) that continue to animate and constrain contemporary debates on the subject. I argue that such conversations might be enriched by a closer engagement with more interdisciplinary work on practices of placemaking and race war.
| - |
