Abstract | Integrated photonics plays an important role in data center interconnects and communications. With the rapid expansion of data center scales, the number of adopted integrated photonic components increases dramatically over the past decade and the trend will continue and expand. For all photonics-related applications, lasers are key devices and semiconductor lasers are undoubtedly the solution for data center applications due to the unparalleled advantages in size, cost, and power consumption, which are critical factors driving the development of hyperscale data centers. |
