AbstractThis dissertation studies the application of Building Information Modelling (BIM) standards in Hong Kong and its impact on the construction sector. The study aims to better comprehend BIM standards by reviewing literature and comparing worldwide standards, such as ISO 19650, to local standards established by the Construction Industry Council. It also investigates the practical use of BIM standards in regional projects, highlights their advantages, and examines the problems and future developments linked with CIC BIM Standards. The research approach combines survey sampling and interviews with industry specialists, including the Construction Industry Council's Digitalisation Manager and Kerry Properties Limited's Senior BIM Manager. Their thoughts and opinions help provide a thorough understanding of the actual implementation of BIM standards in Hong Kong, the specific application of these standards in public and private projects, and the steps taken to promote BIM and apply CIC standards. The findings emphasise the benefits of BIM standards, such as increased productivity, quality, and safety throughout the project lifetime. The report also makes proposals for improving CIC BIM Standards based on feedback from various stakeholders. Overall, this research aims to contribute to the continued growth of BIM practices in Hong Kong's construction industry while also providing significant insights for practitioners, policymakers, and researchers.
