AbstractPorous SiC parts were fabricated via powder injection molding, during which the parts were consolidated using negative pressure sintering (NPS) and positive pressure sintering (PPS). Both sintering technologies successfully produce interconnected micro-size pore structures in the sintered SiC parts. Compared to the NPSed part, the SiC particles found in the PPSed part have a more uniformly-distributed particle size and better developed sintering necks, thus imparting higher mechanical properties to the porous SiC part.
