Abstract | Many patients scheduled for orthopaedic surgeries are elderly with comorbidities. A careful and comprehensive perioperative plan is therefore required to minimize any perioperative complications. There is an increasing trend of using transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) in perioperative care in recent years as it provides a non-invasive assessment of cardiac function and disease. Proper use of TTE can help anaesthetists to formulate their perioperative care plan to enhance recovery of these patients. |
