AbstractLocal order in crystals can be manifested by phenyl/perfluorophenyl interactions. A cooperative network of such attractions can induce a specific stacking order, as observed in complex 1. These structures provide striking examples of a simple principle in crystal engineering and supramolecular synthesis.
