Abstract | The synthesis and metal complexing behavior of a series of oligobipyridines hybridized to chiral organic templates were investigated to study the possibility of preparing and analyzing specific stereoisomers of the parent helicate in a non-equilibrium mixture. The nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra of the strand/template hybrids clearly displayed regions of each of the respective protons and carbon types. The methylene region of the free ligands appeared primarily as a set of singlets, due to the accidental isochrony of the diastereotopic protons. |
