AbstractAn overview is given of the synthetic methods and physical properties of molecule bowls based on the coranulene motif. Topics covered include corannulene and its derivatives, sumanene and molecular packing of bowls in the solid state. The first topic specifically covers corannulene, highly substituted corannulenes, cyclopentacorannulene, acecorannulene and peri-annelated corranulenes, dibenzocarannulenes, indenocorranulenes, complexed corrannulenes and their derivatives and correlations between structures and bowl-to-bowl inversion energy.
