| Abstract | Supervisor undermining deprives employees of the resources they need to enhance their contribution, which reinforces supervisor undermining. It also creates emotional resource deficits that attract further supervisor undermining. Longitudinal data show that (a) supervisor undermining is associated with fewer idiosyncratic employment arrangements, reduced innovative and voice behavior, and greater supervisor undermining; and (b) supervisor undermining is associated with greater cynicism and worry about resource competition, which in turn evokes greater supervisor undermining. |
