Conference Paper: Idiosyncratic Deals, Learning Orientation, and External Networking Behavior

TitleIdiosyncratic Deals, Learning Orientation, and External Networking Behavior
Authors
Issue Date29-Apr-2022
Abstract

This study examines external networking behavior as an outcome of idiosyncratic deals (i-deals), using longitudinal data collected from 209 workers. First, external networking behavior enhances perceived job alternatives and innovative behavior, highlighting its importance. Second, task i-deals promote learning orientation, which in turn promotes external networking behavior. Third, internal locus of control and supervisor undermining are moderators; the indirect effect is stronger for internals (vs. externals) who experience a high (vs. low) level of supervisor undermining.
