Abstract | Food fraud is a never-ending concern in today's world. Furthermore, the situation with food fraud in China is not positive (Gary & Hinch, 2018). And, at the moment, China has highly distinct market logistics and consumption patterns, which include, among other things, distinct cooking habits (Wu et al., 2018). With the technology improving, People's food options are no longer restricted to supermarkets and markets, and online purchasing has become a more convenient option. However, unlike offline food choices, individuals can touch or inspect the food packing, etc. Most online food goods rely solely on the images displayed by merchants and business ethics. Therefore, there is a gap between the sorts of fraud in online food shopping and the corresponding judicial punishments. I would like to explore the present varieties of Taobao (e-shopping platform) food fraud and their interactions with penalties in this article. Then to sightsee whether Taobao is taking charge for fraud in the selling of food on the platform. Finally, to study if online shopping's problematic food exhibits the features of cheap capitalism.
