AbstractThis chapter covers the general consideration and clinical application of zygomatic implants in patients with congenital defects, especially for patients with ectodermal dysplasia (ED). It mainly discusses the challenge to prosthetically rehabilitate edentulous ED patients with severe atrophy of the maxilla and the interdisciplinary strategy of treating the young edentulous ED patient. The treatment strategy is introduced according to different types of ED patients and also gives picture examples with regard to treatment procedures for each type of ED patients. The chapter should enable the reader to gain an overview of the use of zygomatic implants in this specific patient population, and to help dental and maxillofacial surgeons to select a specific zygomatic approach for each individual ED patient.
