AbstractThe article considers fixed-frame film as a method for recording urban phenomenon. Through a historical survey and reflection on the author's own practice, the article considers how the fixed frame can attune perception of city life. As a response to the journal's call on "Figuring Territory" the article argues that fixed frame film makes us aware of the territorial and temporal transformations that operate within the urban realm, rendering the future open.
